What Customers Say About Garmin 010-11023-00 Colorado/Oregon Series Bike Mount:

I put a piece of inner tube at the bottom between the handle bar and cable tie. It works as it should be, great value compare to other bike mounts for other GPS devices. Easy to install, tightly and securely mounted on the handlebar.I read some reviews, ppl said it slips during the off road ride, so I did little modification during the installation. I have gone out few times and never have any problem. Good Luck.

Works like a champ. For those reviewers that mentioned the zip ties not holding as tight - I cut a piece of old rubber inner tube from a bicycle tire between the handlebar and the mount. This keeps the unit from being able to slip on the handlebars and also provides a bit of shock absorption. Has not moved since I installed it on my 1800 v-twin motorcycle. With as much shaking as that engine does to the bike, the mount must be secure.

I bought this mount for use with a Garmin Dakota 20. Some garmin mounts have the brackets that encircle the handlebar and tighten with a screw. Still, with a little extra effort, the annoying little ties work fine.Once mounted, the Dakota 20 snaps on nice and securely. If you tighten the ties by hand, the GPS will move around during bumpy mountain biking. The GPS hasn't moved much since the 2nd tightening. If you only do road biking, it will most likely be secure enough. It comes with 4 ties(2 extra) and a mounting bracket.Mounting this tightly was somewhat of a hassle. It's unfortunate Garmin didn't create this type of mount for Dakotas/Oregons as they are much more secure and stable.

What I did to further secure the mount was take some pliers and hold the tie lock (square part) and pulled the tie with another pair of pliers as hard as I could. This got a few more *clicks* out of it and it secured much better than by hand. It slides off by pushing the release tab underneath. Overall, it suits it's purpose.

I attached this to the handlebars of my dual sport motorcycle. I'm guessing that the ties might deteriorate over time, especially if exposed to a lot of sun, so it would probably be wise to inspect them frequently. However, I can see how the mount would not work well with a bar that wasn't around 1" in diameter.

The ties appear to be of good quality, and I only used two of the four provided. I always make sure the GPS unit is firmly attached and seated in the mount. The mount is basically held on with zip ties.

I've driven with my Oregon mounted on the freeway at 75 mph and down bumpy dirt roads with no problems. I tugged on them hard with pliers to get them as tight as possible then snipped off the excess. Despite that, I can rotate the mount a bit, but that has turned out to be a good thing because it allows just enough slack to adjust the angle of my Oregon to prevent glare or optimize it for my riding position, but it's still tight enough that it doesn't move from where I set it.

Without exercising that care, I can easily see myself failing to engage both grooves on the back of the GPS unit and having the unit drop off on the first bump encountered. Very happy with the purchase, which lets me navigate on my motorcycle.

It does feel secure, but with zip-ties you can only get it so tight and it tends to shift slightly. That is one thing that should be explained in the description, is that this will work with either the Colorado or the Oregon. I used this to attach my Oregon 300 to my mountain bike. It would be better to have a version that didn't just attach with zip-ties. It was very easy to set up and it works pretty well. I would trust it on a trail even though I have not done any really serious trails with it yet. When I went to REI they had various Garmin mounts for their older GPS units which look more stable. I don't know why they decided to shift to this type for the Colorado and Oregon. But, that being said, until a better one comes out, I am fairly happy with it.
